Thanks Labor Day. What are brides supposed to do? Did you ever think about that one?!
Anywho, I like to think of Labor Day as a day to not have to work. And that's exactly what I did! I slept in, okay I didn't sleep in. Only because John and I were going to go on a hike with our wonderful family in Salt Lake!!
So, our day begins. 8 AM.
Wake up.
Shower.
Eat.
Leave.
We picked up John's brother on the way and were almost to the mouth of the canyon when one of John's sisters called to say that another sister was having car problems. Yuck. So, we turned around to go pick up some of the kiddos and take them up with us (I think this was my favorite part of the trip). We had the privilege of picking up the 3 year old twins, Jackson and Corbin. They are just so darling.
The ever so handsome Corbin.
The punkster Jackson
Love these two!!
So we got lost..like 3 times (no thanks to me) but finally found our way to the trailhead. After waiting for the rest of the family to arrive, they finally showed and we started the short hike. Now, I had hiked this trail last year almost the exact same time and there were still mounds of snow that had not melted. Also, the river was almost over flowing and could technically be classified as a white water rafting river. Yeah, it was pretty intense. Well today, there were no snow mounds, and the raging river turned into a cute little stream. Kinda sad, but that's what having an Arizona winter in Utah does.
Sadly, I no longer have my digital camera. BUT I still have a film camera or two from when my dad was on his mission and through college. Oh boy did I have fun with those beauties today! Here are a few pictures that were taken from our hike.
Sara!!
Caught Jett right as he fell down, poor kid.
Best buds
I want to have a yard full of aspens when we buy a house.
All of the nephews and niece that went on the hike.
Jackson showing off his huge muscles.
Corbin showing off his huge muscles, and his hurt hand from falling in a camp fire.
Jett showing off his huge muscles.
Can't you tell that they kinda like showing off their muscles ;)
Emalee!
Hudson is so freaking cute. He will be...is a chick magnet.
We hiked up to Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The reason why it's called Donut Falls is because the water falls into a big hole in a rock...
And comes out into a cave below. It's like a big rock donut.
Now, I do need to give credit where credit is due. John took this picture, with his phone. I'm kinda jealous of his photography skills. But shhhh...don't tell him ;) This was taken inside the cave right where the water flows into.
Brotherly/sisterly love.
Hudson waving goodbye to us as we drove off.
Long story short, today was epic.
It was awesome.
It was lots of fun.
I love spending time with my amazing extended family.
SWEET! I <3 John's family!! Those kids are all SOOOO adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd that drop into the cave - SO COOL!! That is awesome!!
On a side note, I hope that your future children look like John! :D
